We exist to educate a generation of Cambodian children today, to make a difference for Cambodia’s tomorrow.

Cambodia · 1975–1979

A generation of knowledge was lost.

During the Khmer Rouge genocide, schools were closed and educators and other professionals were deliberately targeted. Cambodia’s education system was dismantled.

The long shadow

The loss did not end in 1979.

Children inherited a country rebuilding its schools, books, teachers, and pathways to opportunity. The consequences crossed generations.

Why Caring for Cambodia exists

Education is how a country rebuilds.

CFC helps children learn, trains teachers, and removes the barriers that keep students from school—so they can shape a brighter future for themselves, their families, and Cambodia.
